But don't all forests matter?
Dear readers,
It's been a tough week. I have a lot of thoughts swirling around my head these days about race and privilege that I'm not ready to articulate yet so I'm going to keep this short.
I do want to share the following comic strip which was shared on Twitter by the user @scarecrowbar, because I think they do a great job of explaining why the argument "But don't all lives matter?" is not helpful right now.
In a similar vain, I totally recommend the "All houses matter" comic strip: https://chainsawsuit.com/comic/2016/07/07/all-houses-matter-the-extended-cut/.
Some other things I've been consuming this past week:
Reni Eddo-Lodge's book Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race. I'm nearly finished with it and it's excellent. The chapter on black feminism should be required reading for anyone who sees themselves as a feminist. (To be honest, I think the entire book should be required reading.)
Rebecca Carroll's podcast Come Through which features discussions about race in the US. She has great guests on the show and the episodes are short so it's something to listen to while you're folding washing or preparing dinner :)
Best,
Alicia
